HSS 119- Watercolor

Another Tuesday  means another great challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments! This week, we are challenging you to pull out those blender pens and aqua painters and do some watercoloring!

A few years ago, I would only buy stamps that were solid images. The first set I ever bought was a line drawn image, but when I tried to use it, it looked like a 3 year old had colored it in. SO, I swore off any stamps that required coloring!

Now, you have to know my mother, The Artist, actually taught watercolor painting classes in our home while I was growing up. She also is an amazing painter herself who has sold many, many paintings. But, I was the child who hated arts and crafts!  And her one and only daughter, as a grown up,  could not and would not even color in a teeny tiny stamp! So, finally, I broke down and asked for a lesson when I couldn't resist those line images any longer! In one sitting, she gave me a lesson on shading and creating what I suppose is called dimension in your images. Maybe I can get her to do a short video tutorial!
Mom???

So, I am no longer afraid of the line images! And this one, Everybunny, is one of my favorites! It's such sweet little images. I use blender pens and ink pads when I color water color. I used lots of colors on this one.Too many to remember honestly.

The bottom row of images is the coordinating wheel.

The clouds are actually the cupcake punch. Why has it taken me this long to figure that one out! LOL!

So, give it a try. You can even use a damp paintbrush and regular water based markers if you don't have the fancy stuff! Please give it a try and make sure you come back to HSS and link up with us!

  3. Erica - wonderful colors and technique. Your Mom and mine sound a lot like each other. So I steer clear of WC and drawing, that's why I went to stamping images. debra
